About The Book: "An Indian Winter, or with the Indians in the Rockies" is a fictional story based on a true account of two men who were stranded in the Rockies during winter with limited supplies. The book follows the experiences of Thomas Fox, a trapper who spent his life among the Indians, friendly and hostile, in pursuit of his calling. Fox recounts his adventures to the author, including buffalo hunting, fights with Indians, discovering his uncle was married to a squaw, exploring the Rocky Mountains, and hunting bears. The story is a tale of outdoor adventure, Indians, wild animals, and the dangers of a mountain winter, and is written with vividness and power. The author, Mr. Schultz, learned about Fox's adventures firsthand and urged him to write about them. After Fox became tired of writing, Schultz took notes to ensure the important points were not forgotten. The book is an excellent read for anyone interested in the realities of life in the open and is sure to be enjoyed by all ages. About The Author: James Willard Schultz (1859-1947) was an author, explorer, and historian known for his historical writings of the Blackfoot Indians in the late 1800s, when he lived among them as a fur trader.
